The India Women’s National Cricket Team is poised to make history as they prepare to face England Women in the first-ever women’s Test match at the iconic Lord’s Cricket Ground in London, scheduled for 2026.

This landmark event will mark the debut of women's Test cricket at Lord's, a venue steeped in cricketing history, which until now has not hosted a single women’s Test match.

Introduction

The Lord’s Cricket Ground, often referred to as the "Home of Cricket," has long been a revered stage for some of the most memorable moments in the sport's history.

However, despite hosting numerous men's Test matches and a handful of women's white-ball games, it has never been the venue for a women’s Test match.

This is set to change in 2026, when India Women, led by Harmanpreet Kaur, will take on England Women in what promises to be a historic encounter.

The Significance of the Match

The England Women’s National Cricket Team has regularly played limited-overs matches at Lord’s, but the absence of Test cricket for women at this prestigious ground has been a glaring omission.

This one-off Test match, scheduled for the summer of 2026, will not only be a milestone for both teams but also a significant moment in the advancement of women's cricket globally.

The Road to Lord’s

Before the historic Test match in 2026, India Women will embark on a tour of the UK in 2025 for a white-ball series against England.

The tour will feature a five-match T20I series and a three-match ODI series. This series will serve as a crucial build-up to the much-anticipated Test at Lord’s, allowing both teams to fine-tune their strategies and gain valuable experience on English soil.

Here is the full schedule of the 2025 tour:

T20I Series:

  • 1st T20I: 28 June - Trent Bridge, Nottingham

  • 2nd T20I: 1 July - Seat Unique Stadium, Bristol

  • 3rd T20I: 4 July - The Kia Oval, London
