Telangana is on a mission to establish India’s first and largest Artificial Intelligence (AI) city on the outskirts of Hyderabad.
The state government aims to transform Hyderabad from a renowned IT hub into the AI capital of India, fostering a vibrant AI ecosystem and attracting leading companies to set up their AI centers.
This ambitious project, led by state Information Technology Minister Duddilla Sridhar Babu, will position Hyderabad as a global leader in AI innovation.
A Vision for the Future: The AI City Project
The Telangana Industrial Infrastructure Corporation (TGIIC) has identified 200 acres along the Outer Ring Road in Maheshwaram, Serilingampally, Chevella, and Ibrahimpatnam mandals for the AI city. This massive initiative is set to outpace similar proposals from other states.
For instance, the Uttar Pradesh government announced plans for an AI city in Lucknow in December 2023, allocating only 40 acres with a completion date of 2030.
In contrast, Telangana's AI city, five times larger, is slated for completion by 2028, making it India's first AI city.
Kickstarting the AI Revolution: Global AI Summit
To launch this landmark project, the Telangana government will lay the foundation stone in September.
As a prelude, a Global AI Summit will be held on September 5 and 6 at the Hyderabad International Convention Centre.
The summit, themed "Making AI Work for Everyone," will explore how AI can empower society and foster innovation. It will feature keynote addresses and engaging sessions with over 50 global AI experts, technology leaders, policymakers, and academicians, attracting around 2,000 delegates.
The discussions will cover crucial aspects of AI, such as its potential for societal benefits, safe AI practices, and its role in transforming various industries. The summit will also delve into the ways AI is pushing the boundaries of innovation.

The delegation will meet top global IT players to invite them to the Global AI Summit and encourage investment in the AI city.
A Hub for All AI Applications
The proposed AI City in Hyderabad will host players from diverse fields where AI technology can be transformative, including agriculture, healthcare, education, law enforcement, and mobility.

This collaboration aims to create a supportive environment for the ideation, development, and responsible deployment of AI for social impact.
Conclusion
Telangana's bold move to establish an AI city sets the stage for Hyderabad to become a global AI powerhouse.
By fostering an inclusive and innovative AI ecosystem, the state is poised to lead India into a new era of technological advancement, ensuring AI works for the benefit of all.
The Global AI Summit will serve as a pivotal moment in this journey, attracting international attention and investment.
As the project progresses, Hyderabad's AI city promises to become a beacon of technological innovation and a model for future AI developments in India.
