The ride-hailing landscape in Delhi NCR is about to experience a significant shift as Namma Yatri introduces its zero-commission cab services under the brand name ‘Yatri.’

This strategic move is poised to intensify competition with industry giants like Uber and Ola, offering commuters a more cost-effective and driver-friendly alternative.

This blog explores Namma Yatri’s innovative approach, the implications for the ride-hailing market, and what this means for both riders and drivers in Delhi NCR.

Namma Yatri's Bold Entry into Delhi NCR

Namma Yatri, a rising star in India's ride-hailing market, has officially launched its zero-commission cab services under the brand ‘Yatri’ in Delhi NCR.

This strategic move is expected to ramp up competition against well-established players like Uber and Ola in one of the country's most vibrant markets.

The Zero-Commission Model Explained

Unlike traditional ride-hailing platforms that charge drivers a commission on each ride, Namma Yatri's unique zero-commission model allows drivers to keep their entire earnings.

This approach has been a game-changer, particularly in the competitive markets of Bengaluru, where Namma Yatri initially gained traction.

Expanding the Zero-Commission Promise

Namma Yatri’s services in Delhi NCR, which include autorickshaw, AC mini, AC sedan, and AC XL cab options, will not incur any subscription fees or commissions for drivers until March 2026.

According to Shan MS, co-founder of Moving Tech Innovations, this extended period of zero commissions is designed to attract both drivers and passengers by offering "low prices" and empowering driver partners.

Namma Yatri isn’t just a standalone platform. It’s part of a larger ecosystem of mobility apps, including Mana Yatri and Yatri Sathi, all operating on the Open Network for Digital Commerce (ONDC).

This integration ensures a unified experience across platforms while maintaining the zero-commission model, further solidifying Namma Yatri's commitment to revolutionizing the industry.

Competing in a Crowded Market

The zero-commission model isn't entirely new—Ola and Uber have adopted similar approaches for their auto-rickshaw services, and Rapido, backed by WestBridge Capital, has also embraced it.

However, Namma Yatri’s lifetime zero-commission policy and its broad service offerings in Delhi NCR set it apart, making it a formidable competitor.

The Visionaries Behind Moving Tech Innovations

Moving Tech Innovations, the company behind Namma Yatri, was co-founded by Shan M S, former chief growth officer of Juspay, and Magizhan Selvan, former chief product officer.

Juspay, a prominent fintech platform, holds a majority stake in Moving Tech, with its founders and senior managers also holding significant shares. This strong foundation has enabled Moving Tech to pioneer the subscription model in India's ride-hailing industry.

Expansion Plans and Recent Milestones

Namma Yatri officially launched its cab services in Bengaluru in April 2024, marking the city as its largest market.

The company is also exploring opportunities to expand into rental and inter-city rides. Last month, Moving Tech raised $11 million in its first external funding round, led by Blume Ventures and Antler, valuing the company at $55 million.

A Game-Changer in the Making

Namma Yatri's entry into Delhi NCR with a zero-commission model is not just a bold business move; it's a potential game-changer for the ride-hailing industry.

By eliminating commission fees, Namma Yatri is empowering drivers and offering more affordable options to passengers, setting a new standard for what ride-hailing can be.

As the platform continues to grow and expand, its innovative approach will likely influence the broader market, driving further competition and innovation.
