In a powerful address to business leaders, philanthropists, and members of the Indian-American community at the Kennedy Centre in Washington DC, Prime Minister Narendra Modi called on entrepreneurs from the United States and beyond to invest in India's rapidly growing economy.


Highlighting the transformative changes underway, Modi emphasized that the India-US partnership is a relationship of commitment and opportunity, not just convenience.

Prime Minister Modi's recent visit to the United States marked a pivotal moment in strengthening bilateral relations between the two countries.


During a speech attended by around 1,000 professionals from various fields, Modi underscored the immense potential for businesses in India, pointing out that both governments have laid the groundwork for a prosperous collaboration.



Invest in India's Growth


In his speech, Modi delivered a clear message to the business community:

"This is the moment" to invest in India. He emphasized that the groundwork has been done by both Indian and US governments, paving the way for businesses to "play and prosper."


Modi's call to action was met with enthusiastic applause, as he highlighted the vast opportunities available in India's growth story.



Unleashing India's Potential


Modi showcased India's commitment to development and innovation across various sectors, from defence to aviation, applied materials to manufacturing, and the IT and space industries. He noted,

"In Washington DC, had an engaging interaction with leading professionals across various fields. Glad that @SecBlinken also joined the programme. Highlighted the vast opportunities India offers."

He emphasized that India is currently investing a record USD 125 billion in infrastructure, creating unprecedented opportunities for American businesses.


Modi also pointed out that in the past few days, he and President Joe Biden discussed concrete steps to strengthen India-US relations, with a clear strategy moving forward.



The India-US Technological Partnership


The Prime Minister spoke about the India-US technological partnership, stating that the recent meeting at the White House sent a clear message to companies, manufacturers, and innovators:

"The governments of India and the US have done the groundwork for you. Now you have the responsibility to play and prosper on this ground. The one who plays will prosper."

He emphasized India's role during the Covid-19 pandemic, when the country ramped up production to supply medicines globally, demonstrating India's capacity to contribute to global well-being.



Opportunities and Investments


Modi highlighted that US companies have invested over USD 16 billion in India in the last two and a half years.


He proudly stated that India, the world's youngest nation, boasts the largest pool of young talent, skilled professionals, and a growing economy.

"We are keeping the fiscal deficit in check and continuously increasing our Capex. Our export is increasing, our forex is increasing, and new records are being created in FDI,"

Modi remarked.
